Winner Takes All

You found a bag of money just when you thought you hit the rock bottom. This was your ticket out of destitution. Somehow most of this money left your pockets and entered the casino's vault in a short period of time. That is when you learned the bag was a money drop for the local gang. Now you have more problems with what you started with.

Use the remaining money to recoup your losses and pay back the gang boss to save your hide. If everything works out... who are you kidding? Everything rarely if never works out. You need to deal with new problems as you encounter them. You need to be resourceful and you need to be creative. Life is not a cakewalk, winner takes it all.

Management

Management is a core aspect of Winner Takes All. Although you can technically try your luck as a lone wolf, you will likely want to grow your team and build your criminal enterprise.

But first you need to manage your health and energy. Every action takes its toll on your body, so you need to rest frequently. There is no automation for this in the game.

Next level of management is the team. You will recruit and assign your henchmen to different roles. You may think being hands off and trusting your team but remember; crime business is not exactly big on attracting the most trustworthy type.

Finally you need to manage your businesses. You can assign capable members of your team to manage individual business or entire hubs. As your enterprise get bigger and bigger you will be relying on these managers more and more.

Combat

Urban environments the game takes place generally have strict control on weapons. But you will still need to fight from time to time. So, arm yourself with improvised or highly illegal weapons, give some weapons to your bodyguards as well. Do not forget armor too.

Combat in Winner Takes All is resolved with an auto-battle. There are no levels or special skills. Just men, weapons and armor.

The Universe

Winner Takes All takes place in a future where humanity has colonized multiple planets across star systems. Overpopulation is no longer an issue but people still huddle together. Whether you think this is because of necessity or some kind of instinct depends on which layer social hierarchy you inhabit.

Travel is free within hubs, affordable within hubs on the same planet or moon, and it gets prohibitively expensive between celestial bodies. Only the most powerful people can afford a pleasure trip between stars.

Minigames

You will find minigames you can play in your journey. Though not necessarily relevant to the main plot, it is legally permissible to enjoy them from time to time.

NPC's

Talking to people you meet is one of the core mechanics of Winner Takes All. Many actions are taken during dialogue, such as asking a vendor to trade. NPC's can also share vital story or gameplay information.

You will also need to manage your relationships to these people to get the results you want. Do they like or hate you? Are they intimidated by you or do they see you as someone easily pushed around? For example you probably do not want your employees to think they can just slack off because you are one of the guys.

RNG

This game includes many instances of randomness. Even though it is a management game, instead of many numbers and lots of calculations, it is meant to play as a role play and enjoy the emergent story.
