The Cosmogenesis Project: Corruption

A rogue AI is taking the galaxy one system at a time.

You have been assigned to the Cradle, the last station anywhere with a working wormhole generator. It is humanity's best chance against a machine intelligence that never stops advancing.

Its drones, known as The Corrupt, have seeded every occupied system with a Blight Engine. These devices flood space with engineered spores, twisting the fabric of space and making stable travel almost impossible.

That is why this war is fought one system at a time.

One small ship.

Yours.

Fight your way in and take the systems back.

Enter a wormhole into space the Corrupt hold. Fight through the sectors between you and the Blight Engine, then destroy the drones guarding it.

The Blight Engine collapses, and the system is secured and the path to the systems beyond opens.

Bring the right gun for the job.

A shield soaks every hit until it breaks. Some guns strip one in seconds and then barely mark the hull beneath. Others hit like a hammer, once they've punched through the bubble in front of it.

The map tells you what is holding a system before you open the wormhole. Bring the right gun and the fight ends fast. Bring the wrong one and you can still win, slowly.

Not everything out there dies easily.

Some systems are ruled by a Controller, a heavy machine standing guard over the Blight Engine. Bring one down and you'll earn a special upgrade.

Others hold Outposts. They're heavily defended, but securing them extends the Cradle's reach across the galaxy.

Then there are the Prime Controllers. Defeat them all, and force the AI's Central Intelligence to face you directly.

They come back for the ones you leave behind.

A secured system can come under threat. The map tells you which system is under threat, where the Corrupt are gathering, and how long you have to intercept them.

Miss the window and the system falls back under Corrupt control. Take it back whenever you're ready, and earn its rewards all over again.
