Description
Slow Roads is a casual driving game all about finding peace in a long, scenic journey. Escape into endless procedurally-generated landscapes with configurable locations, roads, seasons, lighting, and vehicles. Generate a world, set the weather to suit your mood, and just drive.

Chase the horizon through endless, ever-unique landscapes. Disconnect while you roll through valleys, forests, and fields, at whichever speed scratches the itch.

A novel procedural engine generates the landscapes and roads organically, meaning every road you generate is unique, and no two corners are alike. Choose from single-track dirt roads up to 4-lane highways, and from straight lanes to winding corners. World generation is seeded, allowing you to revisit your favourite roads or share them with others.

Instantly switch between different locations, seasons, weathers, and time-of-day. Toggle through pre-set options at the touch of a button, or enable the daylight cycle for a more dynamic drive.

Choose your vehicle and customise its style and physics settings, with controls over colours, wheels, engines, handling, and more. Turn any vehicle into a rugged off-roader or rapid track car.

Define your own vision of driving zen with controls for steer assist, camera pose, optional traffic, and more. Sim enthusiasts can enjoy a configurable cockpit view and support for controller and wheel input*

Free yourself from objectives, challenges, or pressure; simply soak in the views at your own pace. You can even let the car drive for you, with options for automatic steering, automatic speed control, or full autodrive.

The Steam version is a sizeable expansion of the web version, with dozens of exclusive upgrades and features:
More locations set in other parts of the world, including the US and Europe
More road style options, including off-road trails and multi-lane highways
More vehicle options
Vehicle customisation, both for style and physics tuning
Combustion engines and manual transmissions as options for all vehicles
Configurable traffic modes
A music interface for playing from local files or public radio stations
Improved controller support, including UI navigation
Profiles for saving your progress and settings
Expanded gameplay and graphics settings
Improved scenery details and high-definition assets
Achievements
The web version will remain freely available and will continue to receive small updates into the future, but will represent a minimal experience of the game.

Slow Roads is a living project with new features, locations, and vehicles in continuous development. The roadmap is long, and while the following features can't be guaranteed, the goals for future updates are:
A scene editing tool which helps you to craft your ideal road
New locations, featuring mountains, oceans, tunnels, and more
More vehicles, with improved physics
Improved graphics features for lighting, weather, and environmental detail
Multiplayer game modes, for shared driving or competitive gameplay
The game will continue to receive content updates for these features beyond the initial release.
No AI has been used to generate any of the code or assets used in Slow Roads; this has been a purely human endeavour from the beginning of the project in 2021. Slow Roads is a solo-developed project, built with a decade of industry experience. Assets are created first-hand where possible - for example, most textures are either composed of photos taken in my local area or hand-drawn. All code is hand-written. It is my firm belief that AI has no place in any artistic exploit and it will never be used for generating any elements of Slow Roads. Please note that procedural generation is not a form of generative AI; the procedures are hand-written mathematical functions that are used to generate the environments according to specific rules, and they were designed with creative intent.
* Force feedback support is targeted for release but remains in experimental development, so cannot be guaranteed at this time
