About This Game
Slay the King:
A chess roguelike where you don't play chess, you break it, or it breaks you.
Every piece has augment slots. Fill them from a pool of over a hundred upgrades, Movement, Combat, Support, and the rare, build-defining Prismatic:
Deal with the Devil - a pawn that moves like a queen. If it dies, you lose 20 HP.
Unstable TNT - a pawn that explodes after 1–6 turns. Or when eaten. Good luck.
Blunder?? - once per fight, rewind the battle four turns.
Combine the right augments and a piece ascends. Crown a Doom Slaying King at the cost of your own queen. Or unleash the Mentally Unstable Pawn with a Gambling Addiction, yes, that's a real ascension, and yes, it gambles.
Beat the game once and the board itself starts to bend. From the classics, to entirely new ways to play!
