Description
About This Game
Step back into ancient Egypt and experience Senet, the legendary game once played by pharaohs, brought to life in 3D.
- Senet combines strategy and chance in a timeless race across the board. Outsmart your opponent, survive the whims of fate, and reach the afterlife.
- Challenge yourself, a friend, or an AI opponent to a game of turn-based strategy and luck as you navigate the game's unique 30-square layout.
- Your goal is to ascend all of your pawns off the board before your opponent to reach Sekhet-Aaru, the kingdom of Osiris, known as the Field of Reeds.
- Our boards authentically replicate those found in ancient tombs and exhibited in museums around the world, and feature four throwsticks or two knucklebones as dice, along with the cone-shaped and spool-shaped pieces.
- This version of Senet uses the well-known Kendall's rules, allowing players to make strategic move combinations. The rules are simple and easy to learn.
- Ideal for fans of historical board games, ancient Egypt, or anyone seeking a quick yet engaging challenge.
- Modern Enhancements: Designed for players of all skill levels, from beginners to seasoned pros. Senet is truly family-friendly, playable with children as young as seven, yet challenging enough to keep adults interested too.
- Small Campaign: Twelve games against an AI opponent to unlock all the boards and achievements at your pace.
- Custom Mode: Allows custom games, local multiplayer, shorter games using 5 pieces instead of 7, and mixing all unlocked game pieces.
- 3 Difficulty Modes: Easy provides a more forgiving AI. Normal provides the most balanced and enjoyable experience, allowing players to face reasonable challenges without becoming too frustrated or bored. Hard hides the UI, creating a more immersive and authentic experience that forces players to rely on instincts and memory.
- Controls: You can play using a mouse, gamepad, or even the Steam Deck touchscreen.
- Two View Modes: Play with a classic static top-view or a dynamic view that follows your ankh-shaped cursor.
- Senet was created as a way to celebrate the 100th anniversary of the discovery of Tutankhamun's Tomb on November 4, 1922.
- His tomb contained no fewer than four Senet boards. The boy king's treasures spurred renewed interest in Ancient Egypt, and after a century, it is still one of the most famous discoveries in modern archaeology.
