Description
Free to play. Early Access on Steam October 28.
Portentum is online only. Every battle is fought against a snapshot of another player's warband, so you need an internet connection to play.

Portentum is a deck-building auto battler where you craft a roster of legendary cryptids with one-of-a-kind abilities and send them into battle.
Every culture on Earth has a monster it swears is real. Portentum puts them all in one deck. You draft cryptids from around the world, build them into a warband, and send them into battles that play out on their own. Your job is everything that happens before the first die lands.

Mothman. Bigfoot. Nessie. The Chupacabra. The Yeti. The Kasai Rex. If somebody's uncle saw it in the woods in 1973, there's a good chance it's a card in Portentum. Every creature gets hand-painted art and its own way of wrecking the other side of the board.
Every other cryptid in Portentum has spent centuries avoiding cameras. Jimothy walked down a Seattle street and let seven million people watch.

Before a run, build a deck of 30 cryptids and mushrooms. Every cryptid brings its own ability: deal damage, heal, summon a minion, bend the dice, and plenty that do not fit any of those. Abilities can trigger upon a roll of the dice, another ally taking damage, or an enemy healing an ally. There are endless combinations and broken strategies to be discovered.

The shop deals a hand from your selected deck for that run. Spend coins to play cards from your hand, build a warband, and then send it to fight. Battles roll dice, resolve abilities, and continue to run until one warband remains. Win ten rounds to win the run. Lose five, and you are out.
When you send your warband into battle, Portentum takes a snapshot of it and adds it to the matchmaking pool. Every warband you fight comes from that pool, built by another player in the same round with the same opportunities you had. It makes for an even matchup, and it means you are never fighting a bot.
Keep playing and you earn card packs. New cards mean new decks to try, and the broken combo you have been looking for might be sitting in the next one. Every warband you build gets saved and sent out to fight other players, so what you build changes what everyone else runs into.
Find yourself in a flow state to the sounds of Portentum. The music is as eerie and weird as many of the cryptids you'll find in the game.
