Overview
On a dreary night, a lighthouse keeper must sweep their beam to guide lost souls ashore, and burn back the dark creeping from within.
Description
There’s a small lighthouse out on the dark coast. Lost souls drift in the water, searching for shore, while trying to avoid the creeping creatures. Can you help them rest before corruption?
Hold the outer glow on a soul as it follows your light home.
Focus light on the inner core of enemies before they retreat to burn them.
You can only do one thing at a time. Every second counts.
Moon phases raise difficulty levels and fog shrinks enemies when in effect. Terrain and weather also can create obstacles. Storms can push souls off course. Allies can surface from the deep when the night takes a turn.
Keep our keeper talking on the radio — to herself, to the sea, to whoever is still listening.
Lighthouse's Vigil started as a 72-hour entry to Ludum Dare 59, where it placed in the top 5% out of ~1,600 games (Mood and Audio especially). The Steam version expands on what we wanted to build — more nights, more weather, more of what worked, and the systems we couldn't fit the first time. Every piece of supportive feedback we received during the jam is going into this version.
"And then the light went out."
