Overview
Defend IronFire against endless waves of zombies in this hybrid defense game combining idle mechanics and roguelite progression. Create near-infinite builds, unlock multiple weapon types, upgrade your defenses, gain powerful bonuses, and more! How many days can you survive?
Description
You are the operator inside IronFire controlling its massive combat system, while monitoring the outside zombie assault through the camera feed. This is not a pure idle game. It combines defense strategy with idle mechanics and roguelite progression.
Days 1 to 99 have 10 waves per-day, basic zombies +bosses.
Days 100+ have 30 waves per-day, all zombie types + bosses.
Immersive Gameplay:
- Use full-screen to turn your monitor into the control panel.
- Camera feed darkens and gets fuzzy as integrity lowers.
- Turrets are inside, so most shots are heard echoing through IronFire.
Combat Customization:
- Near-infinite combat builds.
- 12 main turret weapon types with their own trait and a sniper turret. There's also a secondary turret that can be manually controlled with your mouse or changed to idle with the 'auto circuit chip'.
- 40 upgrades that use multiple resources.
- 30 perks with set bonuses and masteries for attack, defense and utility.
- 27 core upgrades that enhance weapon traits and more with their own resources and also have set bonuses.
- Clear day 1,500 to access horde mode for endless days OR choose to rebirth -- resetting most progress in exchange for your choice of 1 positive and 1 negative mutation (5 mutation choices each and all choices carry over).
Visual Customization:
- Over 100 skins across changing the appearance of IronFire, barricade, panel, cursor and more, using in-game resources or reaching progression based goals (no microtransactions).
Zombies:
- 5 normal zombie types.
- 5 bosses with their own abilities.
(all with different stats to encourage experimental build-craft)
Audio Player:
- On-screen player with over an hour of original music across a heavy and chill playlist.
- Controls for mute/pause, track looping, skip, shuffle and volume control.
(shuffle combines both playlists)
Quality of Life:
- A checkpoint system that allows you to go back to previously cleared days (from days 100+) to help you farm resources.
- Farming speeds to unlock, making farming more efficient.
- A clickable keyboard to enter codes if you're unable to use a physical keyboard.
and many other features to discover!
There are over 10 songs per-playlist and the idea is to choose one song you like and loop it but songs will play through if you choose not to, up to you. The heavy playlist has songs more consistent with guitars, bass, drums and harder-hitting beats. The chill playlist has songs more consistent with synths, piano, drums and lighter-hitting beats. Some songs use elements from both styles, but tracks are placed based on the overall feel of the song.
Bosses have a lower spawn chance from days 10 through 360. For days 370+ though, bosses have a much higher spawn chance. This is due to the fact of there being so many build variations, I did not want someone being blocked from progressing if they're not strong enough to defeat one of the bosses early on but I also want bosses to feel like their role is used properly, so that's why later in the game bosses will spawn more consistently.
I enjoy playing defense, roguelite and idle games; this is my take on what those are like when combined. What started as a small project to learn how to code, over 4 years later, turned into this. At first I was hesitant to make it public, but I am happy to be able to share it with you now. I did my best to balance it, however, I'm open to make changes depending on feedback.
Some of the music used was created by my brother and uncle when they were younger. I created the sound effects and most of the music using music production software. One of my cousins helped with some of the artwork and I tried to make content look as good as I could being self-taught. It's all original, created by human hands with lots of passion and love. I hope you enjoy playing and I'm looking forward to seeing your builds!
