Description
Geodancer is a rhythm roguelike. Every fight is played on the beat, and every run is a different build.
Every input fires instantly, but only on-beat hits pay. Land a hit on the beat and it's a PERFECT: full damage, a full stun, and your combo keeps climbing. Swing off the beat and you get a grey number and a soft dink. No combo, no groove, no takedown. The faster the song, the faster the fight.
Drop in any MP3 from your library. The game finds the tempo and the downbeat and builds a fight around your song. Imported songs are always unlocked in the Jukebox.
Every attack is signalled one beat early, so you can hear what's coming and dash-parry it by ear.
Stay on the beat and the groove meter climbs from D to A. The floor turns from cold indigo to hot magenta and gold, your damage climbs, and the music opens up as a filter lifts. Spend the meter on a ranged note, a floor-clearing DROP, or bank it all for FEVER RUSH.
Die and the run is over. Clear a wave and you pick a Boon: there are 40+ across seven families (poison, slow, weak, crit, charge, arc and shield), and each one changes one of your moves. Commit to a family and the run becomes a build. Between venues you shop with what you earned, and between runs you spend Fans on permanent upgrades. The Tour deals a new line-up every day, the same for everyone.
Neon Edge: a fast blade for tight combos, finished with a 360° spin.
Four venues, each with its own sound, its own rhythm and a headliner at the end of the night.
The Club: The Headliner, a giant star with a face and a full set list of rings and lasers.
The Warehouse: The Wrecker, a neon armored tank that swings, whirls and brings the rafters down.
The Mainstage: The Prism, a crystal mask that fires beams, splits into mirrors, then dives.
The Underground: The Dragon, a mecha dragon head on rockets that bites fire on every beat.
And after the Dragon, one last fighter takes the floor: a red mirror of you.
The tempo is the difficulty. Enemies attack on the beat, so a faster song is a faster fight. Every song was made for the game.
