About This Game
FleetForge is a roguelike shipbuilder for fans of FTL, Void War, Cosmoteer and RimWorld. Your navy has lost the war's decisive battle and your ship is stranded behind enemy lines with no supply line. Getting home means taking what you need from the ships you beat.
How a fight ends decides what you get out of it. Blow an enemy apart and you get scrap. Knock out its Bridge and its guns and machinery survive for you to strip. Board it and capture it, and you keep nearly everything, ship included.
You design your ship one cell at a time: guns, magazines, passageways, doors, berths, belt armour and engines. Your crew walk those passageways during a fight, so the layout matters. A gunner has to man the gun and a hauler has to carry shells to it from the magazine, and the longer that walk is, the slower the gun fires. Between fights, fit the parts you took to your own hull and spend scrap repairing what got shot off.
Load crew into a Boarding Bay and launch them at an enemy ship in a pod. Once they're aboard, you command each boarder as they fight through the ship room by room, with guns and in melee. If the defenders hold their Bridge long enough, they can scuttle the ship rather than let you have it.
You can command up to three ships at once, and every one of them needs a crew. Survivors from ships you take become prisoners. Some will sign on, some need winning over first, and some will never work for you. Every gunner you move to a new ship is one fewer on the ship they left. Your crew have names, take injuries and stay dead when they die. Sometimes the ship you stole outlives the one you started with.
Each run crosses a new randomized map. Routes branch and you can only move forward, so you're always choosing between a safer path, better salvage or a harder fight. A neutral port might trade with you, and a supply convoy might be worth more than another gun. At the end, the enemy blockade fleet stands between you and home.
