Description
Erevael is a fantasy RPG on a hex map. Every world is generated new, and most of it starts hidden under the Veil, the fog that covers whatever you haven't explored yet. You pick a species and a backstory, then go out and explore the world.
There are nine paths, among them fighter, merchant, scholar, explorer and diplomat. Each one levels up from doing their related tasks. Fight and you get better at fighting. Trade and you get better at trading. Most characters end up a mix, and the mix decides which attributes grow.
Much of what you do in game is through minigames. Cooking, alchemy, fishing, woodcutting, mining, and runecraft and more; there are more than a dozen minigames in all.
The map keeps going in every direction, and no two worlds are laid out the same. Your home region is the safest place in it. The farther out you travel, the stronger the creatures get, and the better the materials and equipment you'll find.
Every town has its own shops, prices and people. The guild gives out jobs which you can complete to rank up from F to S rank. Combat is turn-based, and while you will typically fight solo, you can hire adventurers to join you or use summoning magic to pad your roster.
When you're ready, your character retires and you carry on as an heir: someone you befriended, an ally, or a relative. Years can pass between generations, giving the world a chance to change and progress to advance. The heir starts with lower stats than the old character, but their spells, their recipes and the map they surveyed are retained. The world keeps what you did to it, so the roads you built are still there. If you'd rather have one life only, permadeath is one of the defeat options when you start a world.
The demo allows you to explore your home region and one region next to it. It has about a quarter of the creatures and the first two of seven equipment tiers. Heirs are full-game only. Your demo character can be transferred to the full game when purchased, so your progress in the demo is not lost.
Erevael has a mod system built in. You can change its art, its interface styles and its game data, then package your changes to share.
I'm a solo developer, making Erevael on my own. The art is AI-generated, and so are the translations, which haven't been checked by a professional yet. I direct and review everything that goes in. The music and sound effects are licensed work made by people. If the game does well, I plan to pay artists to redo the art, give it to everyone as a free update, and keep the current art as an optional mod.
The demo is free now. The full game comes out on November 10th.
