Description
The battle begins before your position is ready. Pioneers gather timber, provisions and powder while enemy patrols close in. Build farms, depots, gun positions and earthworks on the same ground your companies must defend.
Everything remains on the battlefield. Buildings can be damaged, routes can be cut and unfinished defenses leave real gaps in your line.
You assemble your army in the Quartermaster’s room, then command it through a campaign ending at the Fortress.
Artillery needs time and protection. Cavalry punishes an exposed flank. A routed company may be saved, but only if you act before it breaks completely.
The settlement is part of the position. Pioneers continue building and repairing while civilians work, flee from danger and return when the ground is safe.
A wall can save a company. A prepared gun position can control a road. A building placed in the wrong location can obstruct the ground your army needs.
A new regiment might replace one you’ve been using, or give you a reason to try a different army. Equipment changes what a company is good at, while officers support nearby troops. You can trade unwanted cards or use spare copies to promote a regiment you want to keep.
You can name your regiments and change their uniforms in the campaign book. Their service records stay with them, and surviving personnel carry into the next engagement. Promoting a regiment preserves its identity and equipment.
Completing it unlocks a harder difficulty. If you lose, you keep your owned collection and earned gold, with another attempt at the same stage. That gives you a chance to change your army—or try a different approach with the troops you already have.
I’m developing Empires of Black Powder on my own. The demo is still being worked on, and feedback from people playing it helps me decide what needs attention next.
