Description

DUE TONIGHT is an incremental game about a rubber stamp, a desk and a building that never stops sending you paperwork. All of it has googly eyes. All of it is due tonight.
You start as the night-shift intern in the basement Mailroom. Memos, envelopes and sticky notes crawl across your desk. Slide your stamp over them and it comes down on its own. Every approved form pays a fee. The clock on the wall is your shift, and at midnight it's over.

Your supervisor wants a quota by the deadline. Pay it and you keep your desk. Miss it and you're fired.
Between nights you spend what you earned: a bigger pad, darker ink, faster hands, a longer shift, a better stamp. Adopt an office policy. Pick up the phone. And if the night went well, you can call a coin toss and try to double it.

When the night goes well, the accountant leaves a note on your take: "Double it?" Call heads or tails and either double the lot or lose it.

Pay enough quotas and you get promoted. Every floor is a new desk, new paperwork, a new stamp and a new job title.
From the Mailroom to the Cubicle Farm, Middle Management, the Corner Office, the Ministry, the World Registry and finally the Galactic Registry, where the paperwork is planets and the fees have a lot of zeros.

Every floor has its own Performance Review: a boss that walks across your desk and has to be stamped out before the clock runs down.

On the third floor you get your first clerk. Then a second. Your team stamps while you stamp, and their desks fill the floor behind you. Train them, buy them better coffee, and later open whole departments.

Getting fired is part of the job. Every career leaves you References, and References buy enamel pins that stay with you forever. The next career starts faster, and the one after that faster still.

The higher you climb, the stranger the desk gets: a whole world map across the blotter in the World Registry and, in the Galactic Registry, a desk floating in deep space where the paperwork is planets and black holes and everything still has googly eyes.

At the very top of the building there is one last form. Somebody has to stamp it.
