Description
Paris, July 1789. The Bastille has fallen, and the thrones of Europe are shaking. You take over one of the five great courts and rule month by month – until 1856, or until your own court brings you down. Bonaparte 1789 AD is a turn-based strategy game of statecraft, dynasty and war in the age of Napoleon.
The whole map is your board: 34 regions and five seas, shown as a political map or as the painted original. Drag your armies to the border, land on foreign shores across seas you control, and keep track of ownership, relations, war risk, unrest and garrisons in five map views.
Command infantry, guard, cavalry and artillery move by move – or let the battle resolve on its own. Your opponent holds the ring around his flag, hunts down your cannons and storms your weakest point. Capture the flag or destroy the enemy army before the day is over.
Every regiment has its own name and gains experience. Those who survive earn stars – up to the Old Guard with four stars. Raise new armies, name them, recruit on the spot and move units between your field armies and the militia.

How likely is war? The game shows you the calculation: military power, form of government, legitimacy, tribute. Offer alliances, peace and ceasefires, demand tribute – and see beforehand how the answer is likely to turn out. Grow too powerful, and a coalition will come for you.

Marry wisely, secure the succession, expand your palace. The monarchies of Europe and your own people decide whether your rule is seen as legitimate. When the ruler dies, a race between the heirs decides who takes the throne.
Three estates need looking after: taxes, laws, festivities and investment keep them content – or drive them to revolt. Research 29 achievements in politics, military, economy and finance, and lead your nation through five forms of government, from absolutism to the republic.
