Backup 94 is a 2D point-and-click adventure that returns to the atmospheric format from the 1990s. Built with pixel art, retro 3d, classic puzzle design and moon logic, and without modern quality-of-life improvements. Capture the feeling of classic adventure games with a story made to be lost in time.

A missing 3.5" floppy disk containing a rogue AI system has been stolen from its creator. Every computer it infects loses precious RAM, allowing the AI to grow smarter and spread further through forgotten networks, defense systems, and critical infrastructure. What begins as a strange computer glitch quickly becomes a race against an intelligence that evolves with every bit it steals.
As you investigate the source of the virus, you'll encounter a world filled with eccentric characters and strange technology. Armed with nothing more than your wits and courage, you must recover the disk and stop the AI before all memory is corrupted. But strong forces appear to be working against you as powerful corporations tighten their grip on society.

320x180 display resolution.
Up 256 colors on screen at once.
Pixel art.
Digitized graphics.
Retro 3d.
Nostalgia, Easter eggs and pop culture references.
Bad jokes and horrible humor.
A bit of moon logic.
The game will feature a wide variety of locations full of modern and outdated references.

The game is developed in the Godot Engine. When creating the art both modern and retro software is used.

With custom editor tools, it's easy to add to the game and work intuitively.

For realistic areas Blender is used before pixel art is added where needed.

For true retro Bryce3D is used when creating cyberspace or surrealistic areas.
