Tekken is Namco's 3D fighting franchise. It opened in arcades in December 1994, reached PlayStation in 1995 and has run through numbered sequels and Tag Tournament side entries to Tekken 8.

A legacy worth revisiting
Namco's answer to Virtua Fighter.
Namco built Tekken as a reply to Sega's Virtua Fighter, on the low-cost System 11 board based on PlayStation hardware. The PlayStation port followed in 1995 with a much bigger cast, and the franchise has run on from there to Tekken 8 in 2024.
