Finally, Huangdi got the upper hand and became the emperor of China. Shortly before his death, he decided to reincarnate as a mortal many years later, so he came to the border of paradise, and spoke with the dragon demon Yinglong, who was supporting his rival before, as well as other demons. After a long time, the power of Yandi was reduced, and Chiyou disappeared, allowing Huangdi to become the emperor. But the war was not over. For centuries and millennia later it continued, taking different shapes - blood, battles and ambitions of warlocks would not end. In the Three Kingdoms era, 3rd century AD, the ancient war was revived once again. And so the seventeen-year-old boy Ji Xuan, proficient in sword fighting, and his older sister Ji Shuang, a master of demon-summoning, found themselves involved in a great conflict that will soon change their lives forever... The game plays like a traditional Asian RPG. You can set your combat style to be entirely turn-based, or with active time element, like in Final Fantasy games. The battles are viewed from isometric perspective, while navigation through the game world is done from a regular third person view. The enemies are visible in hostile areas, but appear randomly on the world map. The game allows you to choose between three difficulty levels.

As Adol, you search the island of Esteria, gathering clues to unravel the mystery of Ys. Fight monsters that lurk in caves and towers with physical or magical attacks, and use your brain to make your way through dangerous areas filled with traps.

The game also uses various key items found along the way to solve minor puzzles and progress the story.

A bright light shot up from Darm Tower in the end of the first Ys, and Adol Christin is awakened by a young girl who finds him lying on the ground. She introduces herself as Lilia and tells Adol he is in the land of Ys. Finally he was able to establish a connection between his world and this mysterious land! But finding the gateway to Ys is not enough: Adol must stop an evil entity that his archenemy Dark Fact served. And his foes already know where he is. Ys II: Ancient Ys Vanished - The Final Chapter is a direct sequel to Ys I: Ancient Ys Vanished - Omen. The game continues to utilize the action role-playing combat style of the first installment, which requires the player to make the protagonist run into the enemy in order to cause damage, without the need to press an attack button. The player should choose the angles and the measure of contact with the enemy carefully, otherwise the hero will be killed. The player character can (and should) level up, perform quests for village people, gather money, and upgrade weapons and inventory, like in most other RPGs. The sequel offers a longer quest than the first installment, and adds a magic arsenal to Adol's abilities. Among the magic spells is a fire attack, a time-stopping spell, and a transformation ability that allows Adol to pass for a monster and converse with enemies. Magic spells deplete Adol's magic points bar.

Sorcerian is a side-scrolling action-RPG. The player can create up to ten characters, from whom up to four members can be present in a party at the same time. Each character is highly customizable, with four different classes/races (fighter, wizard, elf, and dwarf) and over 60 possible jobs/occupations (ranging from clown to exorcist) available for them to perform; each has its own strengths and weaknesses, affecting the seven primary attributes (strength, intelligence, protection, magic resistance, vitality, dexterity, and karma) in different ways, as well as different equipment limitations. The player can choose from fifteen different scenarios, or quests, to play through in the order of their choice. The party must battle enemies and perform tasks within the given levels to clear each scenario, before moving onto another scenario of their choice. The player controls the entire party at the same time, with all four members running in a line, jumping in sequence, and attacking in unison. The party members follow behind in a manner similar to the Options in the arcade shooter Gradius (1985). Sorcerian also employs class-based puzzles, such as using a high-strength character to force open doors. All the characters have a default starting age of 16. Each time a player begins a new scenario, a year passes by, while additional time passes by in towns as a character goes through training or enchants items. The characters age at different rates depending on their race, with humans reaching old age at 60, dwarves at 100, and elves at 200. Upon reaching old age, for every year that passes, a character can die permanently at a random time. There is also an “Advance Time” to speed up the flow of time. Another new feature of Sorcerian was its episodic format that extended across various expansion packs. Besides the default fifteen scenarios that come with the game, there were a number of additional scenario packs released. The aging system was created with the additional scenario packs in mind.

The hero of Ys is an adventurous young swordsman named Adol Christin. As the story begins, he has just arrived at the Town of Minea, in the land of Esteria. He is called upon by Sara, a fortuneteller, who tells him of a great evil that is sweeping the land. Adol is informed that he must seek out the six Books of Ys. These books contain the history of the ancient land of Ys, and will give him the knowledge he needs to defeat the evil forces. Sara gives Adol a crystal for identification and instructs him to find her aunt in Zepik Village, who holds the key to retrieving one of the Books. With that, his quest begins.

Be sure to refer to Professor Imes' journal in order to gain essential clues. You'll need them in order to survive the Tombs & Treasure.

This game exists in two editions, one for the MSX1 and one for the MSX2 with better graphics. In Romancia: Dragon Slayer Jr., you are a young warrior whom the king sends on a mission to rescue a lost princess. You must leave the town and enter the dreadful monster-infested catacombs in order to complete your quest. The game is a departure from Dragon Slayer RPG-oriented gameplay style. It tends more towards medieval-themed platformer action. The hero has hit points, can buy items and weapons, use magic, and stay in inns to recover health. However, instead of receiving experience points and becoming stronger, you simply must attack quicker (by bumping into your opponent on platform levels) and jump higher.

In Legend of Xanadu, the player controls a young adventurer named Areios. Monsters attack his homeland, and he is forced to flee. After traveling by ship and arriving at the town Bolda, Areios finds out that strange things have been happening in the North Cave near the town. His first mission will be to venture to the North Cave and investigate the matter. Of course, soon Areios finds himself involved in a battle against sinister forces, and commences the longest and most dangerous adventure of his life! The game is an action RPG set in the Dragon Slayer universe, with a gameplay style similar to Falcom's other popular series, Ys. Controlling Areios, the player explores the top-down world, visiting towns and fighting monsters in vast outdoor areas and dungeons. Like in Ys series, it is sufficient to "bump" into a monster in order to inflict damage. Areios gains hit points and becomes stronger by sustaining damage from enemies and resting. His weapons and armor can gain experience and level up. In many areas, companions will join Areios and help him in combat, controlled by the computer AI. The game is divided into chapters; the final stage of each chapter is a side-scrolling/platform level, which Areios has to navigate in order to reach the boss enemy, defeat him, and end the chapter. In such stages, the combat turns into a more familiar action-oriented style, with the player being required to press buttons in time in order to execute attacks and jump. There is a day/night cycle in the game, manifested not only in graphical changes, but also in the schedules of townspeople: when it's dark, people will return to their homes and go to sleep, etc.

Asteka (アステカ) is an early graphical adventure game that was created by Tsuneyuki Miyamoto at Nihon Falcom. The title was initially released for the NEC PC-88 and was later ported to other Japanese computers. While exploring the Palenque ruins in southern Mexico, the player takes the role of an archeologist where they use the game's katakana text parser to interact with the world and solve puzzles. The game was technically impressive for its time due to how quickly it could load new images, similar to Falcom's Demons Ring, and for its use of digitized photographs for some of its graphics. Asteka was most likely released on April 13, 1985 according to early advertisements. However, even Falcom contradicts itself on the title's exact publication date. Falcom's official corporate timeline on their website says Asteka was released in February 1985 while their 2017 pop-up museum, along with the Falcom Chronicle anniversary book, claims it was released on April 10, 1984. A direct sequel to Asteka was released in 1986 called Temple of the Sun: Asteka II, also known as Tombs & Treasure in North America.

One of the first Nihon Falcom titles, Galactic Wars is an early strategy game with real-time elements, a precursor to the real-time strategy genre. Galactic Wars is a space-themed real-time strategy game. It takes place in the year 2432 somewhere in the Milky Way galaxy and depicts a battle between the Galactic Alliance and an alien fleet, revolving around the strategically important planet M23. The game puts the player in control of a starfleet commander who has two spacecraft at his disposal: the Falcon and the Unicon. The entire game is controlled with menu commands. The player can change the course as well as offensive and defensive manoeuvres of the spaceships, and deploy fighters on the planet itself. The game proceeds in real time: if the player fails to choose a menu command within a short period of time his turn will be over and the enemies will execute their own manoeuvres.
