Every year, during the prestigious all-girls' school Ryouran Academy's culture festival, a fighting tournament is held, with representatives from each of the school's clubs duking it out to determine what the school's priorities for club funding will be for the next year. Naturally, the more athletically-inclined clubs tend to place higher than the culturally-inclined ones, with the Chemistry Club in particular suffering from a humiliating string of losses in the tournament prelims... Enter one Asuka Honda, scouted in middle school by the current Chemistry Club president and subjected to a year's worth of Training from Hell in order to be the Chemistry Club's secret weapon. Making it past the prelims, Asuka enters into the final tournament, where she and a host of girls all vying to improve their club's standings will face off.

Full of magic and mecha fighting action takes place in a different world turns. Set in 2D with depth of field, with a comical action Ri Gemasu melee battle finishing moves and colorful quirky characters who are in disarray. In addition to story mode, and up to four people can play simultaneously mode also comes with VS.

PAL is in most ways a traditional Japanese-style role-playing game. The player orders each character in battle, choosing attacks, items, and techniques. Equipment upgrades are represented as scrolls, and techniques can be upgraded as they are used. Kaoru's boyfriend, Yukito is also an excellent cook and can learn a wide variety of recipes to create recovery and assist items for use in and out of battle.

Special Burning Fest. marks the first time the Asuka 120% series appeared on the PlayStation.
