A designer's name on the box

A legacy worth revisiting
MicroProse put Sid Meier's name on Pirates! in 1987, and it became a mark of smart, systems-led design. Railroad Tycoon and Civilization followed. Meier co-founded Firaxis in 1996, and the label has since covered Civil War battles, golf and space colonies.
