Franchise file / Ian Fleming
Licensed to frag
Ian Fleming's spy has been a video game hero since the 1980s. The licence has passed through many hands, from Rare's GoldenEye 007 on N64 to IO Interactive's origin story, 007 First Light.

A legacy worth revisiting
Bond games have been shooters, racers, text adventures and film tie-ins. Rare's 1997 GoldenEye 007 set the standard every later studio chased, and the licence kept moving. IO Interactive, the Hitman studio, now has its own take with 007 First Light.
