A follow-up to Sengoku Turb, released exclusively in Japan in 1999.

Angelique Tenkuu no Requiem is the first Neoromance role-playing game. Canonically this game is the direct sequel to Angelique Special 2 and Angelique Maren no Rokukishi. Ruby Party members later commented that its conception began when written questionnaires indicated a high demand for a Koei role-playing game, a genre which experienced a boost in popularity due to titles such as Final Fantasy VI and Final Fantasy VII. Since Team-Infinite was simultaneously developing a game for male appeal, Ruby Party was given the inquiry for an Angelique adaptation targeting the female side. The Premium Box edition includes a fully colored leather-bound manual. Consumers who purchased this title during Koei's 1999 double campaign obtained an original clear file.

Third in the Kendo Rage (Makeruna! Makendou) series; this one's an RPG.

The game is a remake of the computer game of the same name. It adds an animated intro, voice-overs, and two mini-games. The story is based on the manga/anime series Ah! My Goddess, depicting the adventures of Keiichi, a Japanese teenager who accidentally summoned the Norse goddess Verdandi (misspelled "Belldandy" in the romanization) and made a wish for her to stay with him forever, which led to all kinds of troubles. What's more, other powerful beings out there are seeking to harm Keiichi's divine girlfriend, so a simple date ends in an unexpected way... The game is a "digital comic", meaning that the adventure elements are reduced to the bare minimum: being able to choose dialogue lines or make other decisions from time to time. The mini-games are a timed exercise of putting puzzle pieces together, and a card-matching game against two female opponents.

Choujin Heiki Zeroigar is an action shooter. The player controls Zeroigar as a plane and as a robot. The player is awarded experience points, depending on his performance during a stage. The Galactic Emperor Zemu is conquering one planet after the other, planning to expand his empire to the known limits of the galaxy. The reason for his success are huge robots who fight in his armies, developed with the technology invented by the genius scientist Dr. Lulu. But the doctor understands herself that her inventions have caused misery and destruction to other nations. She runs away, taking design plans for the giant robots with her. She arrives on the Earth (Japan, to be exact) shortly after World War II, and with the help of local scientists, develops a powerful robot, that alone can protect Earth from Zemu's attacks: Super God Trooper Zeroigar! Zeroigar is the only shooter for the PC-FX system, continuing the legacy of vertically scrolling shooters from the PC Engine (TurboGrafx) era. The player controls Zeroigar as a plane and as a robot (for boss battles). As in most shooters, power-ups appear frequently. Every level starts with the default weapon, which can be enhanced with these power-ups. Secondary weapons (bombs, torpedoes, etc.) can also be found. A somewhat unusual feature of "Zeroigar" is its leveling-up system. The player is awarded experience points, depending on his performance during a stage. After completing a stage (or after a Game Over screen), the player is able to use those points to increase Zeroigar's parameters (health, defense, weapon power, etc.). The player is given unlimited continues, but he has to begin the level from the first screen each time. Anime-style movies advance the story between levels.

Little Cats is somewhat similar to Sakura Taisen games, with adventure and dating elements reduced, and simulation elements added. David has to make schedules for the girls and decide how much and what exactly they should train. Running competitions, shooting range, robot navigation - everything can be trained, but at the expense of the girls' stamina, which means they will need to rest as well. During the simulation mode, it is also possible to wander around the space station and spend time with the girls.

Zoku Hatsukoi Monogatari: Shūgaku Ryokō is a mixture of adventure and "love simulation" - more specifically, first love. The player takes the role of a male student and can choose any time period between ground school to college. Every time period has four different girls that the hero can fall in love with. The player must choose one of those girls as the main love object. The setting is the same in every time period: the class goes on vacation to different places in Japan. Most of the game consists of traveling from place to place, trying to be at the right place the right time and make the right decision. The player must assemble a schedule for each location. It is possible to manage the player character's finances, as well as buy items that can be given to the girls.

Angelique Special 2 is a Strategy game, developed by Koei and published by NEC, which was released in Japan in 1996.

Farland Story is the first in the row of successful Japanese strategy RPG games. The main hero of the game is a knight named Arc, who is in love with the beautiful priestess Ferio. One day, when Arc and his best friend Randia are out of town, a hostile army under the command of a mysterious Black Knight invades the town and kidnaps Ferio. Thus begins Arc's quest to defeat the enemies and to rescue his beloved one from their clutches. Farland Story consists entirely of battles (save cut scenes and the ability to shop if you are near a town after a battle). During battles, you move Arc and his party over the terrain, and attack when there are enemies in range. The party consists of different classes - knights attack with swords, archers specialize in long-ranged combat, priestesses heal, etc. Every attack leads to a counter-attack, from the enemy's side as well as from yours. You gain experience points for every attack, and can level up in the middle of a battle.

The world of Blue Breaker is called "the path in the middle of empty sky": floating islands connected with each other by bridges. It is the tradition of the people in this world that a fighter's full initiation can be completed only when he finds his true love and marries her. Such day has come now in the life of a young warrior named Kain, the hero of the game. His father explains to him that besides the usual warrior's goal of defeating the evil Dark Lord, Kain also has to find the girl of his dreams. He introduces to him a young sorceress named Asha, who becomes his first companion. But on his journey Kain meets many other young women, and it won't be so easy to choose one to whom he can give his heart! Labeled as Love Role-Playing, "Blue Breaker" is a genre-crossing game that combines traditional Japanese RPG with town and dungeon exploration, party-based combat, etc., with "love adventure", in which your behavior towards girls influences the story. "Blue Breaker" features branching story progressing: events appear depending on the progress you have made with your female companions. Your typical RPG activities will influence your relationship with the girls. For example, if you fight too much, the girls will be tired; if you give a girl too many orders in battle (you can set battle in auto mode and only interfere occasionally) she will be displeased, and so on. It is also important to form a party in which the girls will have as few internal conflicts with each other as possible.

This is a platform game similar in style to Bubble Bobble and particularly to Parasol Stars. There are two playable characters, both of which are little girls. There is no difference between them gameplay-wise: both use a large blob-like animal to hit enemies from a short distance in a yo-yo-like fashion. It is possible to choose one of them as a single player, or to use them both cooperatively in the two-player mode.

Megami Paradise 2 is a sequel to Megami Paradise released by PC Engine in 1994. Megami Paradise was an RPG game, but Megami Paradise 2 is a battle simulation game.

Basically, it alternates between the adventure part, which depicts the interaction with fellow crew members, and the battle part, which controls the humanoid deformable fighter Grywurm (Glühwurm) and shoots down enemy planes. It's easy to imagine a flight simulator or a 3D shooter as a fighter, but in reality it's a command line plus real-time. The depiction is 3D, but PC-FX does not have polygon function, so it is represented by sprites used in FC and SFC and pseudo 3D expressed in BG.

The hero of the game is in his space ship, on the way to his home planet. But the space ship crash-lands on the Earth. The hero is on an important intergalactic mission and has to be on his home planet no later than in one month. He tries to figure out what caused the crash, and discovers that it was a voice that interfered with the ship's radio waves. Suddenly, three anime girls appear in front of him. They are Citron, Jasmine, and Cinnamon, the heroines of a TV anime series called "Elfin Triangle". They explain that the voice that caused the disturbance was that of a famous Japanese voice actress.... they just don't know which one. To get a sample of this voice would be the only hope to repair the ship... so the hero and his three lovely companions have to find out who the voice belongs to! Voice Paradise plays, for the most part, like an adventure game with an internal schedule. A visit to every locations costs one game day, and the hero has only 30 days to find the voice actress. The locations include TV studio, CD shop, and other locations that have anything to do with anime and voice acting. The game contains plenty of material about Japanese voice actresses, so it can be described as educational. In order to successfully locate the actress, it is necessary to gather as much information as possible and take part in quiz that would narrow down the search and bring the hero nearer to the goal.

PC-FX installment in the tactical RPG series, Power Dolls. Includes anime-style cutscenes.

Linda Cube is an esoteric JRPG that combines elements of psychological horror with monster collection. Neo Kenya is the name of a world that is in danger of being completely annihilated by an asteroid. The armies of Neo Kenya have searched for every conceivably way to prevent the coming catastrophe. When the inhabitants of the world turn to a dark god, their prayers and nightmares come true. Originally released for PC, Linda³'s shockingly violent scenes earned it one of the few “18+” ratings on the system.

The game is based on Go Nagai's manga, that was later made into anime TV series. Rather than following the plot of the manga, the game has the player assume the role of a nameless male detective, who is headed to a fictional country called Austral Island in search of a missing girl. When the hero arrives on the island, he soon discovers that there is some sort of a supernatural organization that might be the reason for the girl's disappearance. Then he hooks up with Honey Kisaragi, the heroine of the manga and TV series, who is an android that can assume various combat forms and fight evil creatures. This is an adventure game with simple interaction (point-and-click), the cursor turning blue for looking at objects and yellow for using them or talking to people. At some screens there are multiple dialogue choices. There are no puzzles in the game, but sometimes the player controls Honey in combat sequences, which play like a mini-game that involves pressing a button as many times as possible within a time limit, and choosing vulnerable spots on the enemy's body to execute attacks. There is also a map of the island which the player can navigate the main character on. Unlike many other Japanese adventures, characters are animated on almost every screen in Cutey Honey FX, and a large portion of the game is occupied by anime-style movies.

Adventure game for the CD-ROM² addon for PC-Engine. The player navigates Mei around the environment, examining locations and items of interest, and talking to other characters. There are no puzzles in the game, with the plot advanced by triggering events. Items are used automatically in their corresponding locations.

Queen of Queens is a wrestling game featuring licensed stars from All Japan Women's Pro-Wrestling League, such as Aja Kong, Akira Hokuto, and others. The game follows the system introduced in Battle Heat: every move is shown as a full-motion video sequence. Unlike "Battle Heat", there are no graphics in "Queen of Queens", but videos of real wrestlers. There are two modes in the game: league or free battle. The league mode is an All Japan Women's Pro-Wrestling championship that follows the rules of the league. It is possible to play against the computer or in two-player mode.

Naturally a manga/TV anime tie-in, 21 Emon is one of those Japanese style board games that have never really made a big impact in the west. Four players (any combination of human and computer) take it in turns to roll dice and move around the isometric board, landing on various event squares. The ultimate aim is to build as many hotels as you can and make more loot than your opponents.

Götzendiener, made by the creators of Princess Maker, presents its own take on "rescue the princess" story: here, there is nobody who can rescue the princess but herself. Armed with the sword, the princess must explore the isometric dungeon, fighting enemies in real-time combat and solving environmental puzzles on the way. The princess jumps automatically, and the actions in the game are limited to attacking enemies with a sword and pushing and pulling objects.

Ratok, a descendant of the Duel bloodline, receives a distress message from Farland Castle... For the longest time, the world has been split into three, fairy, demon, and human, mainly for the purposes of having the demons sealed off... Yet somehow, the demons have found a way to enter the human world to launch an invasion. One by one, the human world's kingdoms fall to an unforgiving reign of terror. Ratok is informed of the situation by a dying man's last breath after Farland Kingdom fell, its king slaughtered mercilessly. Thus begins Ratok's journey to prevent the demons from realizing their dreams of conquest... Journey with Ratok, as he quests with his legendary Xak Sword to repel the demon invasion, make plenty of interesting and humorous allies/friends along the way, and discover his true identity as well as that of his father's (whose gone missing for quite some time)...

Megami Paradise is a role-playing game by NEC Home Electronics and released in 1994 on the PC Engine Super CD-Rom. It was originally one of the reader-participation projects serialized in Dengeki PC Engine, and later OVA and games were released. The OVA is also sold in North America, but the game is sold only in Japanese. The appearance and parameters of the character change with changing clothes. Wearing certain combinations of clothes makes it possible to use special techniques. Also, if you wear specific clothes set for each character, you can see a single picture called "Zubapita graphic".

Graduation is a Japanese anime "life-sim" game published in America by Mixx Entertainment, the company that would later become Tokyopop. This was said to be "The First Anime Game to hit American Shores". You take the role of a homeroom teacher who is given the responsibility of teaching five girls for their last year of high school in the hopes of making them better people. You determine their class schedules, do guidance counseling, interfere with their weekend plans, and occasionally take to the streets to make sure they're not getting into trouble. Each of the girls has their own individual personality and problems, and the choices you make will determine whether they graduate from high school, what they do with their lives afterward, and whether or not they wind up hating your guts. Get them all into top colleges and your boss will praise your genius. If they all flunk or wind up wanting to marry you, you'll obviously be fired.

J.B. Harold: Blue Chicago Blues provides an interactive cinematic experience with real actors and settings. Choices arise, advancing time and requiring astute planning for mystery-solving and time management. Following Murder Club, J.B. Harold investigates the murder of a woman in Chicago. A surprising turn occurs as a female detective probing the case is killed and staged as a suicide. J.B. Harold teams up with local police to uncover the truth.

Zonk is back in Super Air Zonk, the sequel to the shooting game spin-off of the Bonk series, Air "Zonk." Now moving to a rockabilly beat and able to transform into nine different characters, Zonk lets loose through seven action-packed stages in another battle against his arch nemesis, SandroVitch. Power up Zonk with the classic Meat item, eventually turning him into the champion of justice, Ultra Zonk, or the fearsome Tyrano Zonk in the latter stages of the game.

This is a Japanese point and click adventure/interactive movie, set in the future. You are being framed for a murder and must clear your name with the help of your robot companion.

The boy Rhun and the girl Melvy live in a quiet forest village, both studying the art of magic. They enjoy a peaceful life, learning the secrets of the spirits and magical creatures populating the area. But on one fateful night, everything changes. A horde of goblins invades the village, burning it down. And it looks like the local church is in cohorts with a powerful demon bent on destruction! Before the heroes can realize what is happening, they are forced to escape into the forest, with only their magical powers at their side... Magicoal is a "pseudo-RPG", i.e. an action-adventure with some minor RPG elements (money, items, etc.), but without an experience system of any kind. It can be played in two-player cooperative mode, controlling Rhun and Melvy, or as a single-player game, choosing one of them and letting the computer AI control the other. The player(s) can switch between the two at any time. Most of the game is dedicated to exploring top-down areas populated by enemies, and dealing with them in action-based combat, primarily relying on magical spells. While some of the spells have unlimited use, others must be "refilled" with special items found or dropped by the enemies. Rhun and Melvy learn spells unique to each character, of various elemental affinities and general usage (offensive, support, etc.). Money can be collected from enemies as well and then used in shops to buy items.

An adventure game with animated cutscenes and action-RPG sequences, starring three cutesy anime girls.

Street Fighter II: Champion Edition is a competitive fighting game released for the arcades by Capcom in 1992. It was the first of several updated versions of the original Street Fighter II: The World Warrior. The main changes consisted of the addition of the Grand Masters (the final four computer-controlled opponents in the single-player mode) as playable characters and mirror matches (same character vs. matches). The fighting techniques of the eight main characters from the original game were also further refined to allowed for more balanced competitive play. Champion Edition was followed by Street Fighter II' Turbo: Hyper Fighting, released several months later.

The game is an action RPG, a dungeon crawler with plenty of creatures to defeat and many weapons, armor, and other treasure to collect. You can also use magic spells. The camera rotates automatically according to your movements. You also have the ability to jump forwards.
