The Nohara family has decided to spend their summer vacation in Kumamoto. A week of life begins in the small town of Asso. Surrounded by abundant nature, you can catch rare insects, catch fish in nearby streams, and pick up wild plants. You can also record the fun events in a picture diary every day.

Step into the life of Sohta, the young son of a family that has just set up a dry cleaners shop in the idyllic town of Fuji no Hana. In his interactions with the town's unique residents, episodic mysteries are revealed that portend to the strange events surrounding the appearance of a giant monster every Friday. And finally, when Friday evening falls, the giant monster will appear right before your eyes! Collect the "Monster Glims" scattered around town to form Monster Cards, and once you've collected five cards, Sohta can battle his friends for dominance. Winning at Monster Cards gives you the chance to collect useful information, more Monster Glims, and even to cast a secret spell on your friends that will make them fall down at your whim. Why? Because that's the rules! A touching drama about family, friendship, and the innocence of being a child unfolds against hand-drawn backgrounds, charming music, and memorable characters.

Boku no Natsuyasumi 3 is the third main game in the life simulation series of spending a summer vacation in Japan. This time the fourth grader Boku goes to his uncle and aunt's farm in the wide-open countryside of Hokkaidō on 1st August 1975. It is the same period as the previous two games, so once again it is an alternate universe sequel. He is dropped there by his father as his sister will be born that month. His uncle and aunt have a daughter called Midori who has the same age as Boku.

Bokura no Kazoku is a Simulation game, developed by Millennium Kitchen and published by SCEI, which was released in Japan in 2005.

Boku no Natsuyasumi 2: Umi no Bouken-hen is the sequel to Boku no Natsuyasumi and has a similar concept. The nine-year-old city boy Boku once again spends his summer vacation in the countryside in 1975. It is a alternate universe sequel where the character spends his vacation with his family in a different location, but still meets many characters from the first game. The sequel is set in a Japanese southern coastal town on the tropical Izu Peninsula where his aunt and uncle have a bed and breakfast. The game consists of fixed screen, pre-rendered environments with 3D models and a cinematic camera with a different viewpoint for each scene. Boku's vacation only lasts 31 days, but the player is free to choose how to spend his time as it is presented as a sandbox environment. It is possible to seek quests and help the people in town to solve their problems, but he can also choose to ride his bike anywhere, go bughunting, spend time fishing, dive into the ocean, launch a rocket, go on walk, play hide and seek, or play a mini-game of beetle wrestling. Many scenes offer interaction for the sake of exploration, with no further purpose. Time advances when a new scene is entered, so it is not possible to complete all content in a single playthrough.

The game revolves around Boku, a 9 year old boy sent to his aunt and uncle in Japan's wooded countryside and the daily adventures he encounters there. Boku is there because his Mother is in her final month of pregnancy. The player controls him for the 31 days of August 1975 (In Japan, a Summer Vacation, called natsuyasumi last for one month). You explore the game's area and can catch bugs and pit them against each other, collect bottle caps, fly a kite, or just relax.
